MARKUS SCHWIND
Markus Schwind, born in 1968, studied with Malte Burba in Mainz,
Guy Touvron at the Paris Conservatoire Supérieur (CNR) and with Markus Stockhausen
and Peter Eötvös at the Music Academy of Cologne. Since 1998 he has been a regular
guest of the leading European ensembles for contemporary music Ensemble Modern, Musikfabrik NRW,
Ensemble Recherche and Klangforum Vienna, with all of whom he performs frequently throughout Europe.
In 2003 Markus founded, together with like-minded colleagues, the Stuttgart based Ensemble
"ascolta", which is a presence at major international new music festivals.
Markus has performed in orchestras and ensembles with Pierre Boulez, Ingo Metzmacher and
Heinz Holliger, and collaborated on CD productions for Deutsche Grammophon, ECM und Wergo.
As a soloist he performed at the Berlin Academy of Arts, the Takefu International Music Festival
(Japan) and at several German broadcasting companies. With the organist Martin Bambauer Markus
performed at the parisian churches St.-Sulpice and Trinité after which they recorded their
album "Paths - Klangwege" (IFO). Markus Schwind also teaches at the Peter Cornelius
Conservatory in Mainz and at the State Music High School in Montabaur.
