Łukasz Gothszalk, born in 1984 in Nowa Sól, Poland is one of the most successful trumpeters of his generation worldwide. He began his studies in Wroclaw, continued in Karlsruhe, Germany, and then in Amsterdam (Masters) and Berlin (Konzertexamen). He won prizes at international and national trumpet competitions including Luxemburg (1998), Moscow (2000), Tokyo (2005 and 2006) and the first prize at the American "Ellsworth Smith" Competition in 2008. He has held numerous scholarships including those of the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage (1999, 2000,2002 and 2008) and the Yamaha Foundation (2009) and was a fellow of the International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt (2006-07).

In 2008 Łukasz performed Bach´s 2nd Brandenburg Concerto with the Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic and also with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. He has been a frequent guest of contemporary music festivals including Warsaw Autumn and Ultraschall Berlin and given recitals and performed as a soloist throughout the world, including in his native Poland, Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, USA and Japan.
